  • Pearl Care

We’re back again with another blog on pearls. In our last blog, if you remember, we’ve shared some important tips on daily care and storage of precious pearl jewellery.

Moving further, today we would talk about the right maintenance, cleaning and wearing of pearls. Here we go..

Pearl Maintenance

No matter how much care you take while wearing your pearls, some parts of jewellery may come loose. Whenever you wear a jewellery, make sure that the small parts are properly fixed at their places, such as the prongs that support the pearls, the clasps of necklaces and the screws of earrings.  Make sure that your pearl jewellery is stung with the finest thread without compromising on the durability and beauty of the jewellery.

Even if you are not wearing your pearls often, we suggest that you get your pearls restrung within an interval of a year or so.

Pearl Cleaning

If you find that the radiance of your jewellery appears to be diminishing, we recommend that you take it to a specialist. Any kind of ultrasonic cleanser should never be used to clean pearl jewellery as it can damage the shape and quality of pearls.

Pearl Wearing

Make sure not to immerse pearl strands in water or wear them while doing anything that brings you into contact with water like bathing, dish washing etc. Water can weaken the silk thread and also affect the shining of pearls. It is also advised to avoid direct sunlight or high temperatures such as spa and sauna. If pearls come into contact with substances such as vinegar, fruit juices or detergents, immediately wipe clean with a soft cloth.

By following these simple and easy guidelines you can preserve your pearls for generations to come. Hope this blog on the safety of pearls helped you understand the care of pearls.
