ruby: the fire of sun

  • Ruby

The red-hot July birthstone – Ruby is a naturally occurring gemstone said to be the Sun’s God and the ruler of the Solar system. It ensures its brilliant characteristic of shining even in the darkness because of the presence of fire within it. Ruby is a variety of the mineral corundum. In scientific terms, Ruby is a blend of aluminium, Oxygen, Iron and Chromium. According to the scientific observatories, Corundum is one of the hardest substances on the planet and is second in hardness to Diamonds only. That is why pure and brilliant rubies are very rare and valued highly in terms of pricing.

The Ruby is one of the most charming gemstones created by nature.  It appears in its natural form either in a pinkish red or deep, rich red colour.  The superior quality rubies possess a fabulous hue to them, and such rubies are endearingly called “Silk Rubies”.

Probably, one of the oldest precious gemstones known to mankind, Ruby has been venerated and possessed with much love & care since the ancient times for their superficial qualities and beauty.

Rubies were arrayed by aristocrats, Nobles and Kings of the dawn time.  The name Ruby comes from Latin word ‘Rubber’ which means red.  Believed to ward off sickness, Rubies were purposefully worn in ancient times to make one invulnerable to defeat.  Back then, it was asserted that one who possesses Rubies will never have their wealth or belongings taken from them.  Today, Rubies are adorning some highest quality jewellery pieces like strikingly alluring rings, bracelets, earrings, pendants, charms and necklaces.Ruby diamond necklace
